welcome & philosophy
A peaceful space where children learn to follow their own path
Welcome to PB Too Montessori School. We believe that education is most powerful when it fosters independence, curiosity, and confidence. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy, our approach emphasizes hands-on learning, self-directed exploration, and a thoughtfully prepared environment—elements that together build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success in the real world.
In our classrooms, children are encouraged to follow their natural interests at their own pace. Montessori teachers serve primarily as observers and guides, carefully watching each child's development to offer support and introduce new learning materials at just the right moment. This balance of freedom and guidance allows children to focus deeply on activities they choose, nurturing concentration, motivation, and joy in learning.
Through purposeful play, collaboration, and respect for each child's individuality, we create a learning experience where children not only acquire academic knowledge but also grow in confidence, responsibility, and care for others.

Our Mission
We aim to create an engaging and organized environment that supports children's growth through appealing, natural materials, purposeful activities, and skilled teachers. Our goal is to help children reach their full potential and foster self-directed learning and independence. In addition, we are proud of our peaceful space that provides freedom within limits, where children feel proud of their work and respect others' diversity and preferences.

Carmen’s strong passion for early childhood education started in the Dominican Republic, where she was raised in the environment of her mother's preschool. That spark has grown into a career spanning multiple degrees and international training.
In 2019 she opened The Peanuts Bunch on West 184th Street. In 2025, she expanded to a new location at 110 Bennett Avenue -- PB Too Montessori School.

Trusted by parents who know us best
“Our son has been attending The PB Montessori for two years and we are delighted to have him there.
The care and attention these ladies have given my child is truly unmatched. The director confirmed my son’s lack of hearing and guided us on how to help him get special education services.
We are truly grateful for all the love, care, and support Carmen and her staff continuously provide on a daily basis through Montessori teachings!”
- Logan’s family
“We are so grateful for Carmen and her wonderful staff! Kyliam has learned so much in their Montessori environment and has become more independent, curious, and eager to learn. During his 3K evaluation, he was able to answer questions about numbers, colors, and describe a picture the teacher showed him. They provide healthy meals, genuinely care for every child, and create a loving environment. Most importantly, Kyliam loves them and is always happy to go. We highly recommend PB Too Montessori Daycare!”
- Kyliam’s family
“We chose PB Too for our son after touring several other local programs. What made them stand out was the alignment we immediately felt with our parenting style; how Montessori education fosters independent voice, and development through environmental stimulation. We loved the clear communication, maturity, and top tier professionalism of Carmen and her team, the beautiful space where the children play, and the healthy and quality meals they serve. We love that they go outside regularly and keep screens away! Our son has totally thrived, enjoys each day, and we can't believe how lucky we are to be able to be a part of the school.”
